What to Expect

I believe we are worthy and deserving of dignity, safety, and belonging. Every person deserves a life free from shame, while having access to what brings them joy and comfort. People deserve to be seen, heard, and deeply known. This is how I view the world, and it is how I approach sessions with those seeking to explore themselves and their relationships with others.

As a provider I work with clients to look at sex therapy through a holistic and multidimensional approach. I want to work towards ensuring that you are seen as an individual, and that all of your experiences, past and current, are informing your present.

I approach therapy through the lenses of systemic Liberation Psychology, Queer Theory, and Feminist Theory. I strive to always lead anti-oppression work that is trauma aware, and that starts with you being able to open up as your authentic self. My goal in session is to create a relationship where each client feels safe enough to be vulnerable, is challenged enough to support growth, and valued for their own knowledge, lived experience and individuality.

To delve deeper into the theory behind the work I do, you will find that I practice and hold harm reduction as a therapeutic tool. I am a health at every size practitioner, which means I will never recommend weight loss as a potential fix to distress; a person’s body size is not automatically an indicator of a decline in one’s mental or physical health. I am sex positive, kink knowledgable, affirming of consensual non-monogamy in all its forms, and sex-worker inclusive. I have a focus on LGBTGEQIAP+ populations and those who love us. I also offer an affirming approach to non-religious and/or atheist individuals, as well as those who are part marginalized religions and/or belief systems.

I view therapy through the bio-psycho-social model, and am especially interested in the mind-body connection. Because of this I often utilize embodiment exercises and work with polyvagal theory, and other somatic therapies. For trauma work I am trained in EMDR, which is an option for those who wish to use that approach. As an autistic therapist I can be rather blunt and to the point, but always coming from a place of kindness and compassion, which is something that many clients enjoy about my practice.

During my master’s internship I worked primarily with transgender individuals, those who have been marginalized due to their gender identity and/or sexual expression, and those who experienced trauma. I am always learning and growing and doing my best to remain humble. I want my clients to feel comfortable coming to me with feedback. This is a collaborative process; client feedback helps me to continue to grow as a practitioner and a community member.
